THE INSTRUMENTAL EXPRESSIVENESS IN MODERN CHINESE BRASS MUSIC (EXAMPLE OF WORKS BY WANG HESHENG AND YIN QING)

Abstract

The specifics of instrumental expressiveness in the works of Chinese composers for brass orchestra are revealed. The plays «Beautiful Grassland Night» by Wang Hesheng and «The Road to Sky» by Yin Qing have been analysed in terms of timbre semantics and Chinese modal. It recognized that the most original, in terms of dialogue between Eastern and Western cultures and the comparison of musical systems, is the implementation to European-type brass orchestra the national-specific tools such as pi-pa, cymbals, etc. Specified processes in Chinese music is an example of interaction between the trends of acculturation and enculturation.
