UKRAINIAN ARTISTIC AVANT-GARDE WITHIN EUROPEAN CULTURE AT THE BEGINNING OF XX TH CENTURY

Abstract

The article highlights the formation process of the dialogue between the European representatives of avant-garde and the Ukrainian artists belonging to various aesthetic and artistic movements. The examples of profound Ukrainian .artists’ participation as well as of their followers whose creative work touched upon different kinds of art are given. The estimate of their achievements by well-known European specialists and art critics is analyzed. The article emphasizes the constant attention of famous French avant-garde representative and art critic Guillaume Apollinaire to the works of Ukrainian artists which were displayed at ‘Société des Artistes Indépendants’ and judged by the characteristic of “fundamental novelty”. The fact of creative dialogue between Dadaism representatives and the Ukrainian futurism representatives is mentioned. The article stresses that M. Semen’ko and G. Shkurupiy were really interested in Dadaism
as well as in creative work by European poets and artists.
