IMAGOLOGICAL METHOD OF THE STUDY OF CULTURAL TEXTS (ON THE EXAMPLE OF CINEMA)

Abstract
This article attempts to provide a theoretical basis for the use of the imagological method of studying cultural texts. Cinema is defined as an indicative cultural text that encodes new social and cultural myths. The theoretical foundations of the imagological method, its use in literature studies, and the possibilities of studying cinematic texts are determined. The main concepts in the terminology of imagology are covered. It is noted that now the imagological method has an interdisciplinary character and makes possible the study of ethnonational stereotypes
