Purpose of the Article. The aim of the article is to analyze the church carols «Silent Night» and «Dobryi vechir tobi, pane hospodariu» as interpreted by rock singer Ruslana Lyzhychko, focusing on their compositional development.
Research Methodology. The theoretical and methodological foundation of the study is the principle of sociocultural authenticity, which enables a detailed exploration of the syncretism in the compositions «Silent Night» and «Dobryi vechir tobi, pane hospodariu» performed by rock singer Ruslana Lyzhychko. The study employs the following methods: typological, inductive and deductive, analytical and synthetic, historical-cultural, and chronological.
These methods allow for a comprehensive justification of the music-theoretical components of the compositions performed by Ruslana Lyzhychko within the context of their meta-cultural syncretism.
Conclusions. Christmas-themed songs occupy an important place in the repertoire of rock singer Ruslana Lyzhychko. This is evidenced by the series of Christmas concerts she organized, which were widely presented to the public through mass media. Special attention is given to two church carols – «Silent Night» and «Dobryi vechir tobi, pane hospodariu» – which were included in the album The Last Christmas of the 90 s and became highly appreciated by both audiences and professional musicians. Their interpretation is not merely a vocal-musical performance but a full theatrical show incorporating various audiovisual effects: scenography, vocal ensemble, symphonic orchestra, electronic and traditional musical instruments, and modern rock-style expressive means. This kind of musicalperformance style, as interpreted by Ruslana Lyzhychko, distinguishes her from other contemporary pop singers and makes her vocal-musical artistry extraordinary and unique.
Originality. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that, for the first time in Ukrainian musicology, a detailed theoretical and musicological analysis of the compositions «Silent Night» and «Dobryi vechir tobi, pane hospodariu» performed by rock singer Ruslana Lyzhychko has been conducted, taking into account modern interpretations through the lens of syncretism.
Practical Significance. The material of this study can be used by musicologists and cultural scholars in the exploration of contemporary Ukrainian rock songs, as well as in classes on modern pop solo singing.
