Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze the themes of love and fatality as the leading artistic concepts of operatic
romanticism and to determine their role in the formation of the dramaturgy of operatic works of the 19 th century. The
research methodology is based on the use of cultural, musicological and historical-comparative approaches, which
allow analyzing the artistic features of romantic opera and interpreting the themes of love and fatality in the context of
European musical culture of the 19 th century.
The scientific novelty of the study lies in understanding the themes of love and fatality in the operatic art of romanticism as interconnected concepts that form the dramatic structure of opera plots and reflect the romantic understanding of human destiny. Conclusions. The operatic art of the Romantic era forms a special type of musical and dramatic concept, in the center of which is the inner world of man and his desire for the absolute ideal. Love in romantic opera acquires universal significance and becomes a force that determines the moral choice of characters, reveals their spiritual depth and becomes the driver of dramatic action. At the same time, the theme of fatality gives opera plots a special tragic tension. Fate in the works of Romanticism appears as a powerful force that can manifest itself in the form of a mystical curse, social conflict, or the hero's inner passion. It is the interaction of these factors that forms the dramatic logic of many 19th-century operas. The combination of love and fatality creates a model of tragic conflict characteristic of Romantic aesthetics, in which the pursuit of the ideal comes into conflict with reality. As a result, the musical dramaturgy of the opera reflects a deep philosophical idea about the limitations of human existence and, at the same time, about the power of feeling, capable of elevating a person above everyday life. It is this synthesis of emotional expression, philosophical issues, and musical expressiveness that determines the aesthetic originality and cultural significance of Romantic operatic art.
