The direct and relative sources of performance information, which give the vocalists or choirmasters an idea about the text of the piece work and the specifics of its execution – are analyzed. There are about 20 sources: ancient musical and linguistic treatises originating from the East Slavic territories, musical treatises of German and Italian authors mentioned in the archives of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
