Keywords: hospitality, socio-cultural context, hotel and restaurant service, tourism, research, conceptualization.

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to trace the main changes in the modern scientific conceptualization of the concept of hospitality, taking into account the socio-culturally determined specifics of the needs of hotel-restaurant and tourist service customers.

Research methodology. The research is based on the inclusion of scientific methods and approaches integrated from cultural studies, philosophy, and history. Among general scientific methods, methods of analysis, synthesis, comparison, and generalization were used. The bibliographic method was used for the analysis of scientific publications.

The scientific novelty of the study consists in drawing attention to the need to take into account the socio-cultural context of the hotel-restaurant and tourist service as an important model of the modern understanding of hospitality.

Conclusions. Therefore, the majority of modern researchers emphasize that hospitality has a socio-cultural basis and corresponding consequences, and therefore should not be limited to the commercial sphere. Therefore, it is now suggested to move away from the framework of commercial services in order to better understand hospitality. A socio-cultural and diversified understanding of hospitality significantly affects the improvement and enrichment of hospitality experience in hotel, restaurant and tourist services. In turn, this involves changes, first of all, in thinking and conceptualizing the concept of hospitality as a culturally and human-oriented service. So, today the manager of hotel and restaurant services faces the task of a kind of «cultural» training, which involves not only knowledge of different languages, but also culturally conditioned customs, needs and habits of people who represent different mental worlds and need proposals and attitudes adapted to them requests, which, in turn, are burdened by a wide range of personal tastes and preferences.
