THE IMAGE OF ANCIENT KYIV IN UKRAINIAN PIANO MUSIC OF THE 1980S (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE PROGRAM CYCLES OF B. FILTS, I. SONEVYTSKYI, H. SASKO)

Abstract

The article reveals the image of ancient Kyiv on the basis of the analysis of the dramaturgy and stylistics of the program piano cycles of B. Filts, I. Sonevytskyi and H. Sasko. The programmatic types of these works are determined: generalized («Kyiv Tryptych» by B. Filts) and pictorial («Tryptych» by I. Sonevytskyi and «Echo of the Centuries» by H. Sasko). The dramaturgy of these works is characterized, which is based on suite principle of composition. Three figurative lines are distinguished, which are traced in all the cycles: epic-dramatic, sacral-Christian and folkdom. The composers pay particular attention to sacral and Christian imagery. The common intonation symbols with the help of which the image of ancient Kyiv is embodied are revealed: bell, church monody, toque movement and folk tunes. The versatility of the image of ancient Kyiv, embodied in the reviewed works is shown.
