Abstract

Attention is focused on typological features of N. Metner’s chamber-vocal heritage, which was formed on the basis of the obvious opposition of the composer of the experimental-avant-garde line of musical modernity of the early twentieth century. The key role in his vocal creativity of the heritage of Russian and German romantic musical classics is revealed. The innovativeness of his late vocal lyrics, represented by compositions by op. 41 («Sonata-vocalization», «Suite-vocalization»), the poetics of which gravitate towards the synthesis of vocal and instrumental forms.
