The purpose of this article is to study the structural features of the musical score for A. Kos-Anatolsky's ballet
«The Jay's Wing» in accordance with the choreographic versions of M. Tregubov (1956) and G. Kovtun (2023). The
scientific novelty of this publication lies in its first examination of the creative approach of Ukrainian choreographers
(both Soviet and present) to theatrical translation of Kos-Anatolsky's music. The methodology utilizes general scientific
research methods, including systems, art history, cultural, and historical analysis. The relevance of the study allows us
to draw the following conclusions. Following the first production of the ballet in Lviv, Kos-Anatolsky's work received
numerous comments regarding its concert-divertissement structure, which diminished the philosophical depth of the
content conceived by I. Franko. The directors of the Kyiv versions of the ballet reduced the «diversity» of the musical
and divertissement material, retaining the most striking fragments of A. Kos-Anatolsky's work in the new concept
score. These fragments positively influenced the dynamics of the stage action and the revelation of the characters'
psychological drama.
