The aim of this work is to analyze the stylistic images of the main images on Tarot cards and the influence of style on their content and interpretation.
Research methodology. The study is systematic in nature and is based on the use of historical-comparative and analytical methods. Methods of compositional and figurative-stylistic analysis are aimed at studying the structure of the image, the harmony of visual elements, and symbolic content. They made it possible to trace the transformation of styles of different types of Tarot decks, follow the evolution of card images, and outline their influence on the formation of contemporary visual culture.
Results. The study proves that the visualization of images in Tarot decks is a synthesis of aesthetic and semantic components. The historical development of Tarot cards reflects the transition from traditional images to creative designs made in accordance with modern trends. The transformation of card symbolism involves the formation of a unique visual language, which determines the stylistic differences between Tarot decks. The following styles of illustrations in Tarot cards have been identified: classic archetypal style (interpretation of medieval symbolism); occult-philosophical style (synthesis of esoteric systems and modernist form); decorative style (use of collage elements); minimalist style (natural symbols and simplicity of lines); contemporary authorial style (reinterpretation of traditional archetypes through the artist's personal vision). It has been proven that the artistic form of illustration determines the way the content of visual images and archetypes of the Tarot is interpreted.
Novelty. The novelty of the work lies in the fact that Tarot cards are considered as a phenomenon that combines esoteric, artistic, and visual-communicative aspects. The work summarizes information related to the stylistics of Tarot cards. It explores the peculiarities of the interconnection between the stylistics and symbolism of Tarot decks, which provide different ways of interpreting artistic images. Emphasis is placed on comparing the style of illustrations in other decks and their significance in the formation of contemporary symbolic thinking.
The practical significance. The results obtained can be used in courses on art history, cultural studies, and design, as well as in the practice of creating original Tarot decks, which will help to master collage-related illustration styles and help authors improve their skills. The study can be helpful for practicing designers in the process of creating art projects and startups related to visual symbolism and spiritual traditions.
