MEDIOCRE, DIRECT AND INDIRECT IN CULTURE
Abstract
The article is devoted to the concepts of «mediocre», «direct» and «mediated» in culture based on the material of philosophical sources. It was found that the interpretation of these philosophical concepts is conditioned by cultural practices and determined by the time space. The relationship between cultural phenomena and philosophical teachings, which influence changes in the cultural paradigm, is established, focusing attention on certain concepts in the context of posing the question «what is a person?». Such a question should be asked not only by the philosopher, but also by the culture within which philosophy operates. Correspondence of cultural phenomena, philosophical interpretation and the wide influence of traditions on their relationship are proved. Key philosophical works are identified that help to understand mediocrity in the context of
both traditional (hierarchical) and post-industrial (egalitarian) societies. By outlining different philosophical approaches, we can come to the conclusion that the cultural difference (for example, between East and West) can be traced in the system of thinking and the system of interpretation of the same concepts. It should also be noted that philosophy does not simply record cultural variability according to time, but also analyzes it according to the question of human existence in culture as a whole.
This approach is a place for further studies of mediocrity in the context of separate concepts (mediocre, direct, and mediated), which make up parts of the whole within the framework of understanding this phenomenon.
Research methodology: hermeneutic and comparative methods.
Results. Mediocre, direct and mediated are components of mediocrity. By analyzing the philosophical works of Hegel, we can conclude that within culture there is always an average value through which an individual enters the space of culture.
The problem of mediocrity is defined by the fact that it is mediated through technology, which produces typical images of mass production.
Novelty: this article provides an opportunity to look at mediocrity as a cultural phenomenon that became possible after the reorientation of human values in the context of mass production.
The practical significance: the study of mediocrity can be divided into two parts 1) the individual consciousness of each specific individual and 2) it is the search for the cultural meaning of mediocrity. In the first case, the importance of this article for further research in the field of psychology and the effectiveness of human capital should be noted, and in the second case, the socio-cultural dynamics, which marks the problematic field in industry policy and the clash of different cultural groups and societies within the conflict of cultural environments that revolve around technology.
