Abstract

The article is devoted to the development of textile art in the Rivne region. The creative work of Marta Tokar, who focused her activities on the territories of Lviv, Rivne and beyond, as well as the artistic activity of her daughter – Ivanna Tokar, are considered. The textile heritage of the latter is concentrated in the direction of tapestry, batik, textile plastics, etc.
The artistic work of Marta Tokar, an honored artist of Ukraine, whose work is closely intertwined with the creation of stage costumes for Ukrainian musical groups, is traced. When forming the stage costume, the artist studied the ethnographic base and traditions of folk dress of the regions of Polissia and Volhynia. Among other things, costumes were made for the student folklore and ethnographic ensemble «Zherelo» (1989-1990) and costumes for the student folk music orchestra «Merezhivo» of the Rivne State Humanitarian University (1998-1999).
The work of Ivanna Tokar, who developed her own way of conveying an idea, image, composition, and the use of color shades in textile art, is studied. Imitating the handwriting of her mother – Marta Tokar, the young artist was formed in the Lviv environment, and now her work is enriched with regional Polissia and Volyn accents.
The synthesis of regional textile traditions and innovations can be traced in the work of Marta and Ivanna Tokar, and in the works of their successors. Tradition, through elements of culture that are passed down from generation to generation, and are preserved for a long time and serve as a regulator of social relations, is the basis of strongly preserved regional weaving customs in Polissia.
