EVOLUTION OF THE LYRICALCHARACTER’S IMAGE IN «WAR» SYMPHONIES BY VALERIY ANTONYUK

Abstract

The article analyzes the process of evolution of the image of the lyrical character in the «war» symphonies
by the modern Kyiv composer of the ХХІ st century Valeriy Antonyuk. The analysis material includes his symphonies No. 5 «About The War» and No. 6 «Laments Over The Abuss», written and performed in 2014–2015 in Georgia and Ukraine. Their study showed some patterns that make it possible to consider the process of evolution of the image of the lyrical characterin the symphonic works by V. Antonyuk taking into account the dramatic possibilities of the genre background of music, to find style indices that are manifested in the plane of application of musical expression means (themes, harmony, texture, tone color, etc.) and tooutline the specifics of the author's style of the composer at the plot-storyline and drama levels. The culturological research investigated the role of the person of a specific performer in the process of embodiment of the image of the lyrical character.
As a result of a holistic art analysis of V. Antonyuk's «war» symphonic opuses, the means of culturological
discourse disclose the peculiarities of performer’s interpretation through the reflection (calquing, alteration,
enrichment) of the original composer's plan.
