YOUTH CONCERTOS IN UKRAINIAN DOMRA MUSIC: TYPOLOGICAL FEATURES AND INDIVIDUAL CHARACTERISTICS
Abstract
Three groups of works belonging to children's music are classified: intended for performance by children, but not «children's» in content; about children, but addressed to adults; for children's perception and performance. The differentiating features of children's music are identified. The factors that make it possible to classify certain examples of domra concerts as youthful are summarised: author's designation in the form of the title of the work or a special indication; facts related to the history of creation, for example, an order from the organisers of a performance competition for participants of a certain age group; the practice of regular performance by children, fixed by the publication under the label Pedagogical repertoire or inclusion in Standard Educational Programs; compliance with the differential features of children's music. A comprehensive analysis of the Youth Concerto for Domra and Piano by M. Balema, Concerto No. 2 for Domra (Violin) and Chamber Orchestra by L. Kolodub, and Concerto in D minor for Domra and Piano by S. Hrytsayenko is carried out. It is concluded that the concertos under consideration have common features determined by their belonging to children's music. The manifestations of the individual approach of each author to the embodiment of the basic features of the youth concerto, available at the stylistic, technical and performing levels and genre levels, are traced.
