ECOLOGICAL AND CULTURAL BREAK AS THE LAST CHANCE FOR SALVATION
Abstract
The aim of this article to explore the destructive influence of man on nature.
Research methodology. The basis for this article is a review of a number of the world leading scientists‘ public reports.
Results. The philosophical reasons for the destruction of nature by man, namely anthropocentrism, are substantiated as the false philosophical foundations of modern civilization. The perniciousness of anthropocentrism for human civilization is proven. Based on scientific forecasts regarding the results of such a development of ecological events for humanity, the way to reduce the consequences of the future ecological disaster is determined, namely a complete transformation in the relationship between «man and nature». The main worldview principles should be the principles of environmentalism: ecocentrism and self-limitation imposed on the environment. It is necessary to build a new culture, ethics, economy, education, law and politics on this foundation of environmentalism.
Only with the help of such a complete worldview transformation will we be able to significantly reduce the consequences of the inevitable ecological catastrophe that has already begun and will reach its culmination in the current century. Only in this way will we save the Earth's nature and billions of human lives. Only in this way will we save the colorful earthly culture from destruction by the new barbaric times, which will accompany the future economic and social collapse and spiritual decline.
Novelty. An attempt to rethink the current role of the man along the axis «man-nature» and the place of anthropocentrism as a basic philosophy that leads to environmental catastrophe is made.
The practical significance. Educators, lawyers, philosophers, politician and civil activists may use this article for developing new strategical documents with regards to promotion new ideas in order to educate people in the framework of environmentalism. The relevant amendments to the educational programs can be made. Goals of preserving nature can be made more visible and clear to put them on top of political agenda.
