SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES OF NADIA WARHOL IN THE CONTEXT OF UKRAINIAN FOLKLORE OF EASTERN SLOVAKIA IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE XX–XXI CENTURIES

Abstract

The life path and scientific activity of the multifaceted – folklorist, writer Nadia Varhol from Eastern Slovakia is revealed. A review of numerous publications of the researcher was carried out. The topics of her research are outlined (demonology; paremiology; the role of plants in folk beliefs; riddles, folk rites, customs, traditions, etc.). Information about the Museum of Ukrainian Culture in Svydnik is provided. It is noted that the second half of the 20 th century and the first decades of the 21 st century in Ukrainian folkloristics on the territory of Eastern Slovakia is characterized by increased attention to issues of history, Slavic studies in a comparative context, a tendency to comprehensive study,
despite difficult economic conditions, assimilation processes and the development of Carpatho-Rusynism.
