CULTURAL IDENTITY AS A DYNAMIC PHENOMENON (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE CULTURAL SELF-IDENTIFICATION OF THE EASTERN AREAS OF UKRAINE POPULATION)

Abstract

The authors of the article draw attention to the cultural analysis relevance of the events in the East of Ukraine, which have a significant impact not only on the political, but also on the cultural life of the country. In particular, the issue of formation of political culture and national cultural identity of residents of the East of Ukraine is acute. Since 1991 their orientation has been largely determined as pro-Russian. Based on modern research, the authors state a change in the inhabitant’s cultural identity of the East of Ukraine from the pro-Russian to the pro-Ukrainian one. This shows the dynamics of cultural identity as a socio-cultural entity and the complementarity of political culture and cultural identity.
