Abstract

Attention is focused on the specifics of the interpretation of the image of Orpheus in the French solo cantata of the XVII – first half of the XVIII century, represented in the works of M. A. Charpentier, L.-N. Clerambo, F. Courbois and J. F. Rameau. Substantial and typological features of this genre and features of its timbre interpretation are revealed. The poetic and intonational originality of the works of these authors, which arose at the intersection of the typology of Italian cantata and genre and style guidelines of the French classicist-baroque musical-historical tradition, which was formed against the background of spiritual and ethical pursuits of French absolutism and salon culture.
