TERM SYSTEM OF THE LATEST METHODS OF CREATING AN ART FORM IN VIRTUAL REALITY

Abstract

Research methodology. The active development of artistic practices and forms contributes to the emergence of new categories and concepts. The article focuses on terms that have entered into the lexicon of contemporary art mainly after the 1990 s and relate to virtual reality.

The categorical apparatus of contemporary art is quickly refilled with new foreign modified terms, previously unknown or less known. After the active introduction of the term «virtual reality» in the 1980 s by the american scientist, artist and researcher J. Lanier, concomitant and derivative definitions began to appear. Thus, after O. Piene's proposed term of «art-and-technology», which is accepted by A. Bureaud, L. Manovych thoroughly researched the «The language of new media». T. Codell began to explore the interaction between physical and virtual reality by introducing the term «augmented reality» in the early 1990 s. «Mixed reality» is formally defined by researchers Paul Milgram and Fumio Kishino. V. Kondrattsev, K. and O. Yusupova established the interpenetration of the digital and physical worlds as «phygitalism», and the corresponding direction in art as «phygital art». Among domestic researchers actual terminology studied G. Vysheslavsky, O. Sydor-Gibelinda, V. Sydorenko, L. Smyrna, K. Stanislavska and others.

Results. It was organized the terms and their definitions related to arts in virtual reality, which helped to outline and understand better current artistic phenomena and processes.

Novelty. It was an attempt of combining, comparing worldwide and domestic research in the actual terminology of arts.

The practical significance. Researchers, readers may find the information contained in this article useful for outlining and a better understanding of current artistic phenomena and processes.
