This article deals with the influence of the Orthodox tradition in the history of church music in Ukraine, on the
formation and development of Church music as the part of the spiritual culture of the Ukrainian orthodoxy in XI–XVIII centuries. It has been displayed the role of the national Orthodox music in affirming of the Ukrainian Church identity, in the formation of the national cultural identity, in articulat preserving of the national memory.
