MODERN UKRAINIAN WEDDING UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF GLOBALIZATION: TRADITIONS AND INNOVATIONS IN THE WEDDING RITUAL

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of wedding ritual as a cultural practice of society through the prism of traditional rites. In the process of comparative analysis of such concepts as «tradition», «rite» and «custom», the concept of «wedding ritual» is defined and its cultural explication is carried out. A sociological research was conducted to determine the popularity of various wedding ceremonies in modern conditions. The innovations of the modern wedding ritual in comparison with the traditional one are revealed. The factors of transformation of the wedding ritual in the conditions of globalization processes of today are determined and justified.
