The aim of this article is to identify the distinctive features of choral expression in Ivan Karabits’ concert «The Garden of Divine Songs», examined through the lens of the symbolism of the archetype of Rebirth, and thereby to explore the role of the choir as a vehicle for spiritual transformation at both the individual and collective-national levels.
Research methodology. The following methods were employed: a cultural studies approach – in the interpretation of the Rebirth archetype; musicological analysis – to examine the intonational, genre-based and compositional means of representing this archetype in I. Karabits’ concerto.
The results. The concert serves as a striking example of individual and collective transformation as the realisation of the
Renaissance through the prism of Christian thought. Analysis has shown that, in this context, the archetype in question emerges as a complex, multi-layered structure that integrates the personal and national spheres, representing a process of spiritual transformation. The role of the choir in I. Karabits’ concert is decisive for revealing the semantics of the Rebirth archetype at its highest levels. Through choral expression, a transition is effected from the individual to the collective, from inner experience to nationally significant meaning, which ultimately ensures the integrity of the work’s artistic and philosophical concept.
Novelty. The scientific novelty of this article lies in highlighting the role of the choir in embodying the archetype of Rebirth in Ivan Karabits’ concert «The Garden of Divine Songs».
The practical significance. The results of the study can be used in the educational process in courses on Ukrainian musical culture, choral conducting, choral practice and others.
