THE ESSENCE AND SPECIFICITY OF MILITARY MUSIC AS A FACTOR IN THE FORMATION OF THE SPIRITUAL WORLD OF SERVICEMEN IN THE MODERN UKRAINIAN ARMY

Abstract

The aim of the article is to analyze the essence, functions, and educational potential of military music as a key factor contributing to the formation of the spiritual world of servicemen in the modern Ukrainian army. The study substantiates the role of military music as a cultural, moral, and psychological instrument that shapes value orientations and strengthens patriotic and civic identity in the context of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war.
Research methodology. The methodological basis of the study includes historical-cultural, analytical, sociocultural methods, as well as observation. These approaches made it possible to reveal the functional and educational significance of military music and to trace its historical development, societal role, and modern transformation within the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Results. The research demonstrates that military music remains a powerful spiritual and motivational resource for Ukrainian servicemen. It performs communicative, ceremonial, educational, aesthetic, recreational, and moraleboosting functions. Military music enhances emotional resilience, supports the preservation and transmission of military traditions, reinforces unity within military collectives, and positively influences servicemen’s worldview, moral strength, and readiness to fulfill their duties. The article highlights contemporary tendencies in the functioning of military music during wartime, including the strengthening of military orchestras, the growing role of military songs, digital dissemination of musical content, and the expansion of cultural-educational activities in the army.
Novelty. The study provides a comprehensive cultural analysis of military music as a spiritual-practical phenomenon and identifies priority directions for enhancing its influence on the personal development of servicemen.
Practical significance. The findings may serve as a basis for improving military-cultural work, optimizing patriotic and moral education programs, and strengthening the system of spiritual support within the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
