The article examines the historical background, cultural interactions, and the current state of cymbal art in
Boykiv Oblast. An attempt was made to determine the peculiarities of the morphology and construction of Boyki
cymbals, the specifics of the fret system, performance traditions, as well as the socio-cultural role of the instrument in
the life of the ethnographic group. Special attention is paid to the influence of geographical, historical and ethnographic
factors on the formation of the Boyki instrumental style.
The relevance of the study is due to the need for a comprehensive study of the traditional-instrumental culture of
regional ethnographic groups of Ukraine in the conditions of socio-cultural transformations. The cymbal tradition of
Boykivshchyna, despite its originality and significant historical depth, remains insufficiently studied in the modern
musicological discourse. The methodological basis is a complex interdisciplinary approach, which combines historical
and cultural, organological and culturological analyses, as well as field ethnographic methods.
The article analyzes the main vectors of the evolution of the cymbal tradition in the context of the historical and
cultural processes of Boykiv region, including changes in the design of the instrument, features of performance
practices, and transformations of its social functions. The scientific novelty of the work consists in an attempt to
comprehensively analyze the morphological parameters of Boyki cymbals in the historical and cultural context of
regional traditions.
The practical significance of the obtained results lies in the possibility of their further development in organological and ethnomusicological research, the preparation of educational and methodological materials for artistic educational institutions aimed at preserving and popularizing the instrumental traditions of Boykivshchyna.
