EXHIBITION AS A FORM OF CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL INTERACTION WITH THE COMMUNITY : ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE PROJECT «OURS/OTHERS. STORIES ABOUT...»

Abstract

The article analyzes the changing role of museum exhibitions in modern society 3 from the traditional way of displaying collections to an interactive platform for cultural and educational interaction. The authors emphasize the growing importance of emotional experience, personal narratives, and audience involvement in the process of cognition and comprehension of socio-cultural concepts. The challenges faced by curators in meeting the needs of multi-age, socially and culturally heterogeneous groups of visitors are outlined. In this context, the experience of implementing the exhibition project «Ours/Stranger's. Stories about...» by the Volyn Museum of Local Lore as an example of a curatorial approach: from idea to implementation. The project was aimed at creating an open space for dialogue, reflection, and identification through the understanding of the concepts of «friend» and «foe» in different contexts: local, national, and personal dimensions. Through the use of interactive methods (improv theater, quests, quizzes, game elements for groups of children, families, and individual visitors), as well as the active use of digital communications (social media, video promotion), the project contributed to a deeper emotional engagement of visitors. The study confirms the potential of a museum exhibition as an important tool for cultural dialogue and civic participation.
