TEXTILE ARTS AS A MEANS OF EXPRESSING ARTISTIC REFLECTIONS ON THE EVENTS AND CONSEQUENCES OF THE WAR: UKRAINIAN AND FOREIGN EXPERIENCE

Keywords: textile arts, art therapy, arts and crafts, artistic reflections.

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyse the specifics of the key moments of rethinking the theme of war in artistic textiles in the context of foreign and domestic creative works and art projects.
Research methodology. The research is substantiated by a set of general scientific methods: descriptive, comparative, historical and the method of logical analysis, which was used to study the base of literary sources. The article analyses foreign and domestic publications on the problems of studying artistic textiles as a means of expressing reflections on the events of the war. The empirical basis of the study is the author's personal interviews with Ukrainian artists who work with artistic textiles.
Results. Artistic textiles, both folk and professional, are able to reflect socio-cultural changes in society on a subtle mental level. This is not surprising, given the semantic image of the materials used for it. Thus, artistic fabrics become a way of expressing inner feelings and reactions to external circumstances, which can be used by both professionals and amateurs in
the foreign and domestic cultural space. Unfortunately, war and the circumstances of military conflicts become the very liminal situations when it is vital to reflect on one's own emotions and express oneself through art. Novelty. In the Ukrainian cultural and scientific space, the topic of reflecting reactions to modern existence in the paradigm of a full-scale invasion remains insufficiently studied, despite the deep socio-cultural implications of the issue, which is fully relevant to contemporary Ukrainian society. The publication attempts to actualise the issue of the importance of textile practices in expressing artistic reflections on the events of the war.
