AUTHOR'S LITURGY OF VICTORIA POLYOVOY IN CONTEXT SUCCESSFUL UKRAINIAN PARALITURGIC MUSIC
Abstract
The aim of this article. The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of the Liturgy of John Chrysostom by
V. Poleva (2013) in the context of the trends in the development of modern Ukrainian spiritual and musical art in general and
paraliturgical music in particular. Research methodology. The method of systematic, typological, genre-stylistic and art analysis is
applied. Novelty. The main trends in the development of Ukrainian spiritual and musical art of the beginning of the 21st century
are considered, in particular, the specifics of modern liturgical and paraliturgical music are revealed. The liturgy is analyzed from
the point of view of its genre orientation, conformity to church or concert performance in the context of the specifics of modern
Ukrainian paraliturgical music. The essence of the phenomenon of the author's liturgy in terms of its genre orientation, musical
composition, interaction of the spheres of extrapersonal, sacred and personal-creative thinking of the Ukrainian composer
V. Poleva is revealed. Results. The large-scale spiritual and musical work The Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom by V. Poleva is an
example of a unique genre formation of modern spiritual and musical art – a liturgical concert, the essence of which is
represented in the most vivid concentration of genre content and style of paraliturgical music. The stylistics of the musical language of V. Poleva's Liturgy provides for the possibility of the work sounding both in the clerestory and on the concert floor.
The Liturgy of V. Poleva is characterized by the introduction of a personal, emotional and expressive principle, the source of which is the individual artistic style of the composer, while preserving the architecture of the service, the canonical synthesis of liturgy, reading and singing.
Immersing the listener in the space of light, V. Poleva creates a connection with all historical assets in symbiosis with the technical and professional progress of the eras so harmoniously and casually that the listener does not concentrate on the complexity of the presentation of the musical text, but follows his deep feelings of enlightenment and prayerfulness.
