Through the images of Pisces and fishing, rivers and lakes, fishermen and mermaids, one can understand the ambivalent features of Ukrainian ethnomentality and national character (for example, the polarity of rationalism and mysticism, wisdom and cunning, courage and caution, etc).

Novelty. Representations of ethnoculture in the artistic, figurative, sign and symbolic spheres of Ukrainian mythology, folklore, and folk art are considered in the context of ethnocultural studies and semiotics.
