LACE COIFS IN FEMALE CLOTHING ON BOIKO REGION OF THE LATE XIX – EARLY XXI CENTURIES: LOCAL ARTISTIC FEATURES
Abstract
Artistic features of Boiko female coifs of the late XIX – early XXI centuries are considered in the paper. Local features which were formed under the influence of ethnocultural and artistic factors of the period were analyzed. The methodological basis were the principle of systematic approach and comprehensive research, in particular comparative historical, typological and art study methods, as well as interviewing. As a result of scientific research, it has been determined that traditional openwork items in Boiko Region are characterized by a number of features (shape, structure, colour, decoration) inherent exclusively to this territory or even a separate area. Taking into account the way of wearing, manufacturing techniques and their artistic features netting coifs deserve for special attention. Moreover, they were an integral headdress of the wedding ceremony and, accordingly, a marker of married woman in traditional culture. Author's field materials and museum collections make it possible to assert about the unique local features of coifs from Turka, Staryi Sambir, Skole, Velykyi Berezniv, Volovets districts. Narratives from local old dwellers have been introduced into scientific circulation, and a terminological series has been developed.
