MUSICAL ARTIFACTS OF LVIV AT THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY IN THE JOURNALISM OF THE PRELATE OSTAP NYZHAKIVSKY

Abstract

The review of musical and critical works of the Galician composer priest Ostap Nyzhankivsky that were published in the newspaper «Dilo» is provided. The themes of criticism concerning the cultural and educational life of the Eastern Galicia at the end of XIX – beginning XX century have been studied. The range of genres of his works published in press has been identified. The description of the artistic achievements of ukrainian composers, prominent singers among which S. Krushelnytska, O. Myshuha, M. Levytskyi, chorus «Dvanadtsyatky», «Lvivskyi Boian», conductor O. Nyzhankivskyi, and the establishment of new music publications is provided. The peculiarities of the publicist style of the journalist have been analysed. The source study value, the cognitive and educational functions of the publications by O. Nyzhankivskyу in the press has been studied.
