PRESERVATION OF MEMORIAL CULTURAL HERITAGE IN WAR CONDITIONS

Abstract

Purpose of the article. To highlight the issues of preserving the memorial heritage of Ukrainian culture in the russian-
Ukrainian war conditions. The research results. There were considered the latest specialists-practitioners and scientists
researches that are related to the protection and preservation of cultural heritage in the conditions of military conflict. There
were analysed international and domestic legislative proposals in the field of cultural heritage protection. Recommendations
about the preservation of cultural heritage in war conditions, in particular the memorial museums heritage are highlighted in
the research. There were determined the problems of preservation of the memorial cultural heritage and proposed possible
ways to solve them. The scientific novelty lies in the coverage of problematic issues that complicate the preservation of the
memorial museums cultural heritage in war conditions and are associated with the presence of a large number of museum
objects belonging to different storage groups; the preservation of an authentic memorial house; the tendency to feminise
museums; and a small number of employees, which affects the quality of organisation of the cultural values evacuation.
Conclusions. The preservation of Ukraine's cultural heritage during the war is an important issue that requires different
approaches to the preservation of museum objects depending on the museum's profile, diversity and number of museum
collections and series. On the one hand, the preservation of the memorial cultural heritage is complicated by the
«chambership» of the museum institutions that store them, and on the other hand, the presence of different groups of museum objects storage, which requires an individual approach to each of them. Accordingly, the protection of the cultural heritage of memorial museums, in war conditions, requires legally approved instructions for the storage and evacuation of cultural values with the presence of clear recommendations and instructions in accordance with the museum's profile.
