Abstract

The purpose of this article is to systematize and theoretically substantiate methodological approaches that enable an
adequate cultural analysis of the evolution of women’s roles in the Ukrainian sociocultural sphere during the second half of
the 19th century and the early 20th century. The scientific novelty lies in the proposal of a comprehensive methodological
model that integrates historical-anthropological, interpretive, phenomenological, and gender-based research strategies,
allowing women to be viewed not as passive elements of the sociocultural system, but as active agents and initiators of
cultural change. The theoretical significance of the article lies in the fact that the analysis of cultural transformations in
women’s roles demonstrates broader trends in the transition from a traditional to a modern type of culture in Ukraine. The
research methodology involves the use of a range of methods that combine historical-anthropological, cultural, sociophilosophical,
feminist, mythological, structuralist, and interpretive approaches, through which it is possible to trace how the
modern era contributed to overcoming the traditional one-dimensionality of the female role and to the formation of a multifaceted
model of female subjectivity. The theoretical and methodological analysis conducted has shown that the study of
women’s gender roles in modern Ukrainian culture requires an interdisciplinary and multi-methodological approach capable
of integrating knowledge from cultural studies, anthropology, sociology, history, psychology, and feminist studies. The
theoretical and methodological analysis conducted has shown that the study of women’s gender roles in modern Ukrainian
culture requires an interdisciplinary and multi-methodological approach capable of integrating knowledge from cultural
studies, anthropology, sociology, history, psychology, and feminist studies. Conclusions. It has been established that the
modern era marked a period of profound structural differentiation within Ukrainian culture, during which significant changes
occurred not only in the realm of social practices but also in the system of symbolic representations of womanhood. This
necessitates the combined use of hermeneutic, phenomenological, semiotic, narrative, and structural-functional
methodologies, each of which offers a distinct perspective on understanding the female role as a cultural construct.
