Abstract

The article analyzes the reception of AI in Chinese and American cinema in recent years using the films «The Wandering Earth», «The Wandering Earth-2» and the last two episodes of «Mission Impossible». Common and distinctive features in the attitude towards new technologies are noted, as well as changes in this attitude, which are present despite the small interval between parts of the films. The differences between the understanding of the prospects for interaction with AI in different worldview models are emphasized.
Relevance of the study (problem statement). The current dynamics of the development of applied applications of neural networks raises the question of predicting the impact of the implementation of such a powerful and comprehensive technology on humanity. Scientists around the world build hypotheses of varying degrees of optimism, but they are constrained by the conditions of the scientific approach, while screenwriters and directors do not have such restrictions. Let's consider how the predictive function of culture is implemented in the cinema of the two leading countries in the development of AI – the USA and China. he goal is to analyze how AI is represented in cinematic images of the future and how these visual constructions influence the receptive practices of the viewer, forming cultural ideas about humans / technology / interaction. Object – cultural reception of the future in cinema.
Subject – the role of artificial intelligence as a conceptual element in the receptive practices of cinema related to ideas about the future. Research methodology: to achieve the goal of the study, comparative and narrative methods of analysis are used, as well as cultural hermeneutics and postmodern analysis (approach). The material for analysis is modern American and Chinese films about AI.
