Anti-plagiarism Policy

The journal “Ukrainian Culture: Past, Present, Paths of Development” strives to publish only original materials, therefore all manuscripts submitted for publication are checked using the online service “Strike Plagiatism”.

Plagiarism before publication

The journal “Ukrainian Culture: Past, Present, Paths of Development” analyzes any case of plagiarism on its own merits. If plagiarism is detected by editors, reviewers or editorial staff at any stage before publication of the manuscript – before or after acceptance, during editing or at the stage of checks, the author(s) are warned about the need to rewrite the text or make a reference to the original source. If at least 25% of the source material is plagiarized, the article may be rejected, and the author’s institution/employer is notified.

Plagiarism Checking Policy

All submitted manuscripts are checked using the online service “Strike Plagiatism”.

Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism are handled based on the degree of plagiarism: if < 25% plagiarism, the manuscript is immediately sent back to the authors for content review, and if > 25% plagiarism, the manuscript is rejected without editorial review. Authors are encouraged to review the plagiarized parts of the manuscript and resubmit it as a new manuscript.

The percentage of plagiarism is calculated by the software and is also manually assessed.

Post-publication plagiarism

If plagiarism is found after publication, the Journal will conduct an investigation. If plagiarism is detected, the Journal editorial office will contact the author. The pages containing plagiarism will be marked in the PDF file. Depending on the degree of plagiarism, the article may also be formally retracted.

Duplication and Redundancy

Redundancy occurs when a manuscript or significant parts of it are published by the authors more than once in Ukrainian or other languages without appropriate cross-referencing and justification.

Authors should not submit manuscripts that duplicate previously published research in whole or in part. Submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously is unacceptable.

Authors should inform the editor of all manuscript submissions that may be considered as previous or repeated publication.

Text Recycling or Self-Plagiarism

Text recycling or self-plagiarism occurs when authors reuse text fragments from their own publications without indicating authorship. When assessing the admissibility of text reuse in a submitted manuscript, the journal will follow the COPE guidelines https://publicationethics.org/files/Web_A29298_COPE_Text_Recycling.pdf

The following will be taken into account:

the amount of recycled text;

which section of the article has been reworked;
whether a reference has been made to the source of the reworked text;
whether the article is a research article;
whether copyright has been violated, etc.

If the rework of the text is deemed unacceptable, the submitted manuscript may be rejected.
