THE PERFORMING SCHOOL OF THE LYSENKO LMI AND POLISH MUSICAL INSTITUTIONS IN STRYI IN THE EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY
Abstract
The relevance of the problem. The study of musical culture, especially in a multinational environment such as the city of Stryi in the early twentieth century, is an important area in the humanities. Its goal is to preserve and enrich national identity while showing respect for other cultures, including musical ones, through the analysis of musical and historical heritage in terms of its development and interaction with other cultures.
From this perspective, the musical culture of the city of Stryi and the Stryi region as one of the multicultural centres of Galicia deserves special attention and determines the relevance of the article.
Research methodology. The following methods were used to study this issue: theoretical, empirical, and analysis (identification and study of individual parts of the phenomenon), systematic approach (consideration of the object and phenomenon as a system), historiographical, retrospective and others.
Scientific novelty: for the first time, the socio-historical and cultural significance of the influence of the performing school of the Lviv Music Institute on the formation of the elite of Stryi and Stryi region is highlighted.
Practical significance of the results. The conducted and published research can be used in courses of cultural studies, history of Ukrainian music, and for cultural and educational work. The documentary, archival, and source materials introduced into scientific circulation give a broader picture of the development of artistic processes in the region during the period in question.
The article, based on archival sources and music-historical works by scholars, examines the influence of the Mykola Lysenko branch of the Lviv Music Institute (LMI) and Polish musical institutions on musical life and education in the city of Stryi and surrounding villages in the early twentieth century.
