Ukrainian folk musical instruments remain an important element of cultural heritage and play a significant role in modern performing practices, contributing to the preservation and development of Ukrainian musical identity. Since Ukrainians had background music for every life event and used musical accompaniment to organize their work thus making
the process more efficient, folk instruments provided the color and complemented the everyday life of our country. The utilitarian nature of some musical instruments is manifested in their ability to generate sound without the use of strings or wind systems. In the Paleolithic age, bone, wooden and stone musical instruments appeared, which were used to signal the
community and coordinate work during labor processes.
The history of musical instruments of Ukraine shows the periods when some instruments were considered lost due to the loss of the possibility of their manufacture and performance skills. In order to preserve and restore Ukrainian folk musical instruments and transfer knowledge to the next generations, it is important to conduct a detailed study of the history of these instruments and develop relevant musical traditions and performance skills. Understanding the historical context of the creation and development of musical instruments is a key aspect of the study of folk musical instruments and contributes to a deeper understanding of their role in Ukrainian musical culture, as well as helps to improve them for modern performing groups and orchestras of folk instruments. The combination of historical context and functional description reveals a scientific novelty within the framework of modernization and promotion of folk instruments.
