CULTURAL HERITAGE IN THE CONDITIONS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF MODERN DIGITAL CULTURE
Abstract
The aim of the article is to reveal the essential understanding of «digital culture» and «digital cultural heritage» as one of its phenomena; determine the possibilities and features of the application of modern digital technologies in the preservation and popularization of cultural heritage.
Research methodology. The research was based on methodological principles: systematicity in revealing the integrity of the investigated object as a system and creating a single picture in the assessment of phenomena and processes; contextuality of the analysis of the researched object in its environment, connection with a wider range of phenomena. The specified methodological principles determined the appropriate methodological toolkit: the interpretation method made it possible to compile the semantic characteristics of the specified categories and phenomena; the integrative method made it possible to use data from various fields of humanitarian knowledge to solve the tasks set in this study; the historical and cultural method of research became the basis for the study of various concepts, which is the conceptual predecessor of modern digital culture.
Results. The article emphasizes that digital technologies have become an integral part of the life of a modern person, and therefore it is impossible to ignore their obvious cultural significance. An overview of the leading stages of digital media research is given, while special attention is paid to the analysis of categories that have become the basis for the study of new phenomena: «digital (new) media», «digital culture», «digital cultural heritage». The idea that modern studies of digital culture encompass the broad transformations occurring in connection with the spread of digital technologies in culture as a whole, as well as its artifacts and phenomena, in particular digital cultural heritage, is substantiated.
Novelty. The article considers «digital cultural heritage» as a phenomenon of «digital culture» for the first time, identifies the possibilities and features of using modern digital technologies in the preservation and popularization of cultural heritage in Ukraine.
The practical significance. Research materials can be used for scientific and scientific-methodological support of the educational process in institutions of higher education within the framework of basic courses on cultural studies, theory and history of culture and special courses on modern culture, the basics of cultural policy.
