UPDATE OF THE GENRE OF THE FOLK SONG’S ARRANGEMENT IN THE VOCAL HERITAGE OF VITALIY KYREYKO
Abstract
Vitaliy Kyreyko's arrangements for voice and piano op. 26, that became a worthy contribution of the artist to the treasury of Ukrainian vocal classics, were researched.
It was substantiated that the study of the creative heritage of outstanding Ukrainian artists, in particular Vitaliy Kyreyko, is one of the most relevant questions of the modern musicologytoday. It needs further in-depth research and generalization.
The scientific novelty of the article is the interpretive maxim of Vitaliy Kyreyko's cycle «Ten Ukrainian folk songs from the Poltava region» (op. 26).
The main objective of the study is to consider the genre-dramaturgical and performance concept of arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs by Vitaliy Kyreyko.
The research methodology of the study is based on the complex application of scientific methods: musicological and analytical (to find out the specifics of the composer's writing and to carry out a musicological analysis of V. Kyreyko's arrangements of folk songs), historical and cultural (to study them in the context of time), systemic and structural (to generalize the acquired information), as well as comparative (to compare musical interpretations).
The practical significance. The information presented in the article will be useful to musicologists for further study of V. Kyreyko's body of work, as well as to interpreters of his vocal pieces.
Results. It is proved that V. Kyreyko's arrangements of the Ukrainian folk songs are characterized by figurative, thematic and genre versatility, lyrical and psychological generalization of figurative content, as well as original methods of musical disclosure of ideas, feelings and experiences.
- Kyreyko's compositional ingenuity, specificity of writing and stylistic guidelines based on the synthesis of folklore principles, late romantic tendencies and modernization of means of musical expressiveness. The composer found the necessary methods of melodic, harmonic, modal, textural and polyphonic development of the piano accompaniment, which contributed to the deep artistic processing of folk song material.
Interpretive paradigms of works by V. Kyreyko require the performers to have a comprehensive mastery of the entire arsenal of professional skills necessary to reveal the character and figurative content of each work.
