Abstract

The aim of this work is to study the historical preconditions for the formation of modern theater in Ukraine, to prove the detrimental effect of the concept of bilingualism and the need for de-Russification and de-Sovietization of the national theater space, overcoming colonial dependence on Russian theater.

Thorough understanding of key development trends, identification of new approaches to the implementation of classical texts and the impact of postmodern aesthetics on Ukrainian drama and theater.

Research methodology. The paper analyzes the scientific literature on this topic, in particular two fundamental works of N. Kornienko, as well as summarizes the views of leading scientists.

Results. The conclusion is made that it is necessary to abandon the Soviet approaches to the organization of theatrical work, to displace Russian-language content from stage practice, scientific and educational activities. The necessity of state support of non-governmental alternative projects in small towns to overcome the monopoly of repertory theater has been proved.

Novelty. An attempt is made to verify the idea of total de-Russification and de-Sovietization of the theatrical process in Ukraine, the need to abandon Russian-language content.

The need to introduce the pedagogical experience of Lesya Kurbas into the educational process of theatrical educational institutions is emphasized.

New tendencies in the director 's work on dramatic texts in the light of the concept of post – dramatic theater are revealed.

The practical significance. The work can be the basis for a thorough scientific study of the detrimental effects of bilingualism on modern Ukrainian theater, and can also be used in the development of professional training and work programs in educational institutions of art.
