PHILOSOPHICAL METHODOLOGY IN MODERN MUSIC SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH

Abstract

The article considers the philosophical and methodological issues of modern musicological research, analyzes the features of the methods and approaches of modern philosophy (hermeneutic, system-structural, functional, cultural-historical, semantic, integrative approaches).

The expediency of expanding the methodology of highly specialized musicological research with the methods of modern philosophy of music is substantiated. It is noted that the philosophical methodology significantly expands the possibilities of theoretical understanding and understanding of specific and practical problems of modern musicology.

It was found that the philosophical concepts of many musical phenomena, overcoming the shortcomings of specialized research, deepen the understanding of their specific nature and determine the prospects for further research.

The expediency of augmenting the methodological apparatus of highly specialized musicological research withthe methods of modern philosophy is determinedby range of objective reasons: expansionof the scope of theoretical reflection and understanding of concrete and practical problems of modern musicology; advancement of perception of the specific sence of many musical phenomena and defining the prospects for their further research throughthe scope of philosophical concepts.

Caused by the natural «spiritual kinship» of music and philosophy, the incorrect use of philosophical concepts and categories in specialized research, and in some cases the non-compliance of the methodology or research to its subject attests the feasibility of adressing to a special subject area – the philosophy of music.

It was defined that scientific methods and approaches of the philosophy of music contribute to exposure of the influence of ideological attitudes on the work of composers, may facilitate the study of composition as a holistic mythological system, and foster the representation of artistic and philosophical images of music asconstructive elements of the world, promote cultural and philosophical analysis of the music and musical thinking, and construct the musical mode of experience of the world in people.
