SOLOMIYA KRUSHELNYTSKA’S CONTRIBTUION TO UKRAINIAN AND WORLD MUSICAL AND THEATRICAL ART

Abstract

The purpose of this article is establish Solomiya Krushelnytska’s contribution to the Ukrainian and world musical and theatrical culture.

The research methodology consists of a range of methods: historical, biographical, theoretical. The abovementioned methodological approach allows studying historical data and events in Ukraine, finding out certain biographical facts and analyzing the singer’s creative work.

In Ukraine, Solomiya Krushelnytska formed as a musician, having obtained vocal education at the Lviv conservatory and made her debut in the Lviv opera house. She had lived for a long period outside her native land, spending a lot of time in Italy and Argentina. Nevertheless, Solomiya Krushelnytska always maintained cultural ties with Ukraine remaining interested in the cultural development of her nation and promoting the Ukrainian culture. She considered it to be her mission which was reflected on her chamber repertoire. She performed the works by Ukrainian composers and Ukrainian songs all her life. She was on the stage in different countries always performing the Ukrainian song.

In 1939, the singer came to Lviv where she had stayed for the rest of her life. Living in the native land was rather hard due to historical, economic and social changes. However, Krushelnytska proved to be a talented pedagogue while working at the Lviv conservatory.

Conclusion. Solomiya Krushelnytska became a famous and prominent personality, her art was marked byartistry and aspiration for professional improvement. The singer managed toconvey the content of the modern stylish opera movements and tendencies, embody in her figure a «breakthrough» of the professional music culture into the European art environment, showing what kind of global artistic heights a Ukrainian woman can achieve.
