BALLET BY ANIKO REKHVIASHVILI «SNOW QUEEN» – PERFORMANCE FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN
Abstract
The article analyzes the ballet «Snow Queen» staged by A. Rekhviashvili (2016, Kiev, National Opera of Ukraine). It is noted that the ballet has risen to the level of P. Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker in terms of thematic and artistic universality – it captures both adults and children. A fairy tale is an effective way of organizing a performance for children and adults; for the former, in this case, it is well-known, accessible, dynamic, for the latter, it activates associative thinking, involuntary identification of the second plan, and solving the psychological complexity of images. The choreographer decided the ballet performance mainly by means of an original plastic-spatially rethought classical dance, which is considered universal for the implementation of a fairy-tale theme, since it is inherent in abstractness, which enhances the feeling of magic and inaccessibility.
