COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE STRUCTURES OF UKRAINIAN WEDDING AND FUNERAL RITES
Abstract
Owning to comparing two ceremonial structures, it was able to definitely establish the place and task of prologues, the presence of chronological freedom in a wedding and its absence in the funeral cycle, single statuses of the main character of the burial and double opposition of the antinomian moments of the wedding. A significant achievement of the study should be considered the introduction of a traditional form of universal rite by the nature of an action, consisting of invitation, arrival, creation of a ceremonial attribute, arrangement, blessing, guests and return. According to such form, the rites of matchmaking, betrothal, torochyn (sewing ribbons to the towels), bhannia korovaiu (baking a round loaf), hiltse (Ukrainian ceremonial small tree), as well as the prologue of funeral rites and the funeral rite at home are drawn up.
