Abstract

Objective: this article examines the role of the digital environment in the cultural adaptation of refugees and identifies key challenges and resources affecting their integration into host societies. It explores how digital tools, including online language and culture courses, educational and cultural platforms, social networks, online support groups, career counseling platforms, and mobile applications, support language acquisition, cultural familiarization, professional development, social networking, and psychological well-being.
Methodology: the study employs a qualitative, cultural-anthropological approach. Data were synthesized from scientific literature, case studies, and practical examples of digital interventions across countries. The analysis examines opportunities provided by digital technologies and barriers encountered by refugees, such as limited access to devices, unstable internet, insufficient digital literacy, language difficulties, information overload, and cultural irrelevance. The research emphasizes integrating digital tools with face-to-face mentoring, community engagement, and institutional support.
Results: digital platforms contribute to developing language, professional, and social skills, provide spaces for interaction and support, and help refugees navigate daily life in new cultural contexts. However, technological access, digital competence, and culturally relevant content remain challenges.
Innovativeness: the study offers a culturally informed, cross-national perspective on digital tools for refugee adaptation, emphasizing the interplay between online resources and human-centered support to foster resilience and socio-cultural negotiation.
Practical Significance: findings stress the importance of culturally sensitive digital strategies and cross-sector collaboration. Inclusive digital environments enhance language learning, professional development, social participation, and mental well-being while reducing social isolation and digital exclusion, highlighting conditions for the effective use of existing digital tools in refugee integration.
