ARTISTIC EXHIBITION PRACTICES: TRADITIONALITY AND MODERNITY. EXISTENCE OF CONTEMPORARY ART IN EXHIBITION SPACE
Abstract
The publication considers the main problems of the existence of contemporary art in the exhibition spaces in terms of tradition and the use of new art forms. It is determined that modern exposition practices develop in several parallel directions: traditional exposition in the classical museum space; exposure in a white cube space, not limited by any formal factors; art projects in the open space, which varies depending on the structure and theme of the exhibition; studio space, which itself becomes an exposition; free locations, an independent territory that art events turn into an artistic space; virtual art projects created using computer technology that do not depend on physical space at all.
In this way, the relationship between the exhibition space, works and the audience is radically changed – new semantic connections are formed, formed by all participants of the art process, the boundaries of exhibition practices are expanded and the coordinates of creating artistic images in art objects are updated. It is noted that the removal of the boundaries between fine arts and "free locations" not only creates a special sphere of culture that exists between art and life, but also opens contemporary art to the public, as both trained spectators and casual witnesses are involved in the work. Exposition practices, evolving in the process of general development of culture, choose the ways of their development in accordance with the requirements of the time, and their formation and stylistics are guided by the main trends and criteria of contemporary art.
