CREATION OF I. STRAVINSKY IN THE BALLET THEATER OF UKRAINE

Keywords: ballets by Igor Stravinsky, Ukrainian ballet, Ukrainian ballet theater, choreography, dance

Abstract

The article reveals works to the music of I. Stravinsky, staged in the ballet theater of Ukraine. It is noted that despite
the small number of incarnations of the composer's music in the Ukrainian ballet, one can find a tendency to interpret the
composer's early, most famous ballets («Firebird», «Petrushka», «Rite of Spring»), based on the initial versions of
M. Fokin and V. Nijinsky, as well as postmodern versions. Among the ballets created by I. Stravinsky after 1913, the oneact
«Kiss of the Fairy» and «Pulcinella» are embodied on the Ukrainian stage. It is argued that the main reason for the
predominant appeal to the early ballets of the composer is their dramatic harmony.
