CANTATAS «SICH IS COMING» AND «INSURGENTS» OF R. NYKYFORIV ON THE POETRY OF V. ROMANYUK AS A MODEL OF THE MODERN HEROIC DRAMATIC CHOIR MUSIC

Abstract

The article reveals the musical and the aesthetic analysis of choral cantatas of the composer Roman Nykyforiv; specifically, «Sich is coming» and «Insurgents», written on poetry by Victor Romanyuk. The poems of the abovementioned socio-cultural figure are used for the literary basis of an overview of the vocal and choral works of the Ukrainian composers. We followed the forming process of the artistic outlook of the modern national poet Victor Romanyuk, whose social and civic poems led to the creation of patriotic choral cantatas. We highlighted features like Roman Nykyforiv’s use of folk sources, romantic stylistics and modern composer language.
