MUSEUM COLLECTIONS AS A SOURCE OF STUDY UKRAINIAN TRADITIONAL SHIRT

Abstract

The article summarizes information about the possibilities of investigating the specifics of decorating a traditional Ukrainian shirt based on the study of collections of domestic museums. Ethno-art analysis of artifacts stored in the holdings of museums of Ukraine, with the use of cultural methodology (including synchronous and diachronous methods) allows to conduct scientifically reliable research of Ukrainian shirts. The study of museum collections of clothes provides a rare opportunity to make a direct understanding of the features of regional life of the Ukrainian shirt, allows to systematize and classify types of undergarments according to the cut style, to identify the specifics of its decoration according to the characteristic features of regional clothing complexes. The presented scientific research proves that the regional perspective of the study of the ethno-artistic features of the Ukrainian shirts in the museum collections is the most reasonable.
