BALLET «BLACK GOLD» BY V. HOMOLIAKA - P. VIRSKYI: SCIENTIFIC AND CRITICAL DISCOURSE

Keywords: ballet “Black Gold”, Pavlo Virskyi, ballet criticism, ballet studies, choreography, dance

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the scientific and critical discourse of V. Gomoliaka’s ballet «Black Gold» staged by P. Virskyi (1960). It is noted that the works of the leading figures in Ukrainian ballet studies of Yu. Stanishevskyi and M. Zahaikevych, despite their fundamental nature, do not reflect the whole spectrum of approaches to clarifying the artistic value of ballet. Criticism of that time revealed the main aspects of the analysis of «Black Gold». All reviewers note the originality of the ballet performance dedicated to the present, where the academic forms of classical dance and mass dances, created according to the ensemble principles of folk stage dance, are organically combined.
